Employee Spotlight

Our employee spotlight showcase the journey encountered by on our Shipment Team during delivery. Due to Covid-19 airlines have reduced their flights (schedule and capacity), and BVI saw an opportunity to ensure customer satisfaction by delivering consignments using refrigerated trucks. Arrangements with the Covid-19 Task Force as well as BURS have been made to do the hand overs at no-man’s land for the safety of both parties.

Meet Cleopas Gamu, Lab Assistant OVP

In spite of the service delivery obstructions as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, BVI has managed to successfully deliver vaccines amidst the challenges, namely to Namibia and Zimbabwe.

News desk: Kindly share with us your experience during the deliveries; both the highlights and challenges.

Cleo: The trips are always fine as the hired trucks are in good condition and we are provided with adequate PPE. The border officials (BURS, Covid team and Police) are also always informed and ensure that our cross overs are smooth and safe.

Each delivery has its own peculiar challenges; we already know the hiccups to anticipate for each customer. Customs clearance procedures usually take long due to network problems, we have since done preclearance and this has helped a great deal. Some roads are bad and hence make the long hauls somewhat uncomfortable but memorably unforgettable.

The fears I had about travelling during Covid-19 times have been put to rest as we are tested prior to and after every trip, and the customers we interact with also observe the same protocols, though not always to the same degree.”
